How to apply thermal compound (thermal grease) All solid state relays (or computer CPUs or many other electrical devices) generate heat when they are working. A proper application of thermal compound helps to ensure the best thermal transfer from the device to a heat sink. In this example, we are showing the application of thermal compound on the Power-io C Family product. The Power-io can be switching up to 100 amps per channel, which is 200 amps total. This thermal rise can be effectively transferred to the Power-io heat sink while occupying a tiny footprint of less than 22 square inches of cabinet sub-plate. |

New 4-20mA input SSR, including high speed performance The HMA product lines accepts an industry standard 4-20mA analog signal, or a potentiometer, and converts that control request into high speed on/off/on/off pulses for heater control. The internal microprocessor calulates the minimum number of half sine waves, starting at 3 half sine waves, and adds additional ON or OFF half sine waves to meet the target. For longer heater life or high speed IR loads, sealing bars, IR heaters for extrusion preforms, or extruder die zones; the HMA can provide up to 20-40 precise on/off heat cycles per second. The HMA product is made in the USA. |

New -- Ultra Power Cooler Heat Sink Solid state relays are semiconductor devices that generate heat in proportion to the quantity of amps being switched. Heat sinks capture that thermal rise and dissipate it. Heat sinks are rated by a ºC/W number that represents: "for every watt of heat generated, the solid state relay will increase by xºC". For example: if you put 30 watts of heat on a 3ºC/W heat sink, the solid state relay's internal SCR dies will rise 90ºC (194ºF) above the ambient temperature. The new, 80 mm (3.15 inches) wide Ultra Power Cooler heat sink provides a 0.2ºC/W rating that makes it ideal for high amperage solid state relays, high ambient temperature areas, or high density installations. Power-io manufactures a variety of heat sinks for industrial, military, or commercial installations. February 16, 2005 |

New -- 90 and 125 amp solid state relays The popular H family of solid state relays has been expanded with two new high current models offering 90 and 125 amp AC switching outputs. The higher amperage models are ideal for high inrush loads or higher amperage switching. When used at lower amperage switching, such as 20-75 amps, these new models offer cooler performance while ensuring a higher margin of safety against amperage inrush problems. Both models have the Maximum Surge Survival circuit for outstanding performance and long life in industrial, laboratory, military, or appliance installations.
